The Municipal Information Systems Association (MISA) is an established Canadian association of municipal government representatives and others interested in the effective use of information technology to provide better and more cost-effective services to municipal taxpayers and clients.
MISA has been established in the Province of Ontario since 1971 and in the Province of British Columbia since 1994. Municipalities in other provinces gradually established MISA chapters from the late 1990s. The first formal meeting of MISA Atlantic took place in July 2005, and the first Annual General Meeting of MISA Prairies took place in April 2006.
The four MISA chapters, together with RIMQ (Réseau de l'informatique municipale du Québec), formed a national association, MISA/ASIM Canada (Municipal Information Systems Association/Association des systèmes d'information municipale Canada), which was formally launched in Ottawa on June 6, 2006.
